Getting a handle on the variety of ships in Starfield is no small feat, especially before you ascend into the cosmic playground that awaits. That's why we've crafted a comprehensive guide outlining the distinct types and classes of ships in the game, ensuring you're well-prepared before igniting the thrusters.

But your interstellar journey in Starfield goes beyond merely hopping from planet to planet. The game also provides a rich customization landscape, turning your ship into a personalized extension of yourself. This is particularly enjoyable if you pilot one of Starfield's elite ships. So please fasten your seat, and let's see every available ship in the game.

Every Ship in Starfield: Specs, Stats, When & Where to Get Them

Starfield offers more than 300 ships for players to buy, get through missions, or steal (commandeer). In the table below, you will find every ship except the Starborn Guardian ones, which come with different weaponry (SOL and TOR). A few important notes:

- Ecliptic, Va'Ruun, and Spacer ships can only be stolen (commandeered). Beyond that, there seem to be multiple UC, GalBank, and Freestar ships that you can only get by stealing them.

- Crimson Fleet ships (aka pirate ships) can only be purchased from Jazz at The Key if you are a member of the Crimson Fleet or stolen/commandeered or if you are not.

- The only Ship Services Technicians that seem to sell ships with Shielded Cargo Holds seem to be Jazz at The Key and Lon Anderssen at Red Mile (the only two Shady ones).

- While not free ships per se, there are several ships like Dagger, which you can steal easily.

- The Ship Services Technicians' ship stock is weird. It doesn't seem to be 100% random, as I mostly get the same ships every time. There seems to be a randomness included in the stock, though.

- Ships like Narwhal, Stronghold, Silent Runner, and Shieldbreaker (let's not call them legendary but unique or flagships) are typically available at one vendor.

- I think the ships available for stealing/commandeering correlate to your level and the level of the Solar System you are in. I assume that your chances of stealing a III or IV variant of a ship are high if you are at a high-level system, even if your character's level is much lower (unconfirmed).

I have also added the reactors for each ship I have found so far, as reactors are the ship modules that unlocks the ship's capabilities in the Ship Builder. For instance, if you buy the Silent Runner early in the game, you can access the Dogstar SF30 Sheared Flow Reactor, which is typically unlocked much later. I think this is valuable information.

Note: The table is obviously incomplete, but I hope it's helpful. It's going to take a while until every single piece of information is added, so please leave a comment to help fill out the reactors column and the "Where to Get" and "Unlocked at Level" columns.

Free Ships

An important category to distinguish are the ships in Starfield you can get for free, without stealing (commandeering). These include:

Frontier

The Frontier is your starting ship, the one Barrett gifts you during One Small Step.

Razorleaf

Razorleaf (also known as the Mantis Starship according to the quest object) is a ship you can get during the Mantis side/misc mission, starting with you finding the Secret Outpost! Data Slate.

UC Prison Shuttle

The UC Prison Shuttle is a free ship you acquire towards the end of the third faction mission for the Crimson Fleet, Echoes of the Past.

Star Eagle

To get the Star Eagle, you must complete the eighth faction mission for the Freestar Rangers, The Hammer Falls.

Kepler R/Kepler S

Upon completing the Over Designed side-misc mission, the Kepler R and Kepler S starships are up for grabs. The ship you end up with depends on the decision you make through the mission.

To kick off this quest, you'll first need to finish the High Price to Pay main story mission and then talk to Walter Stroud. The game isn't particularly explicit about how your decisions in the mission influence your eventual reward, but we've got some insight to share based on our playthrough.

To get the Kepler R, focus on a bigger budget and keep your crew involved, as it is both the more expensive ship and has more crew member. The ship is combat-oriented, so destroying every enemy ship in combat will also help. Essentially, this is a performance-based mission. If you do everything right you get Kepler R, but if you don't you will probably end up with Kepler S as compensation.

Wanderwell

Wanderwell is the free ship you get at the end of the Kid Stuff trait's storyline. If you picked up the trait upon character creation, keep visiting your parents in New Atlantis, until you complete the storyline. Wanderwell will be your reward.

Starborn Guardian

To get the Starborn Guardian ship, complete the game's main story and start New Game Plus. You can unlock six Starborn Guardian ships, each variant being an improved version of the previous one, from New Game Plus to New Game Plus 6.
